Choosing your plan
All apps on the Grammarly for Developers platform are on one of two plans:
- The Lifetime Free plan (the default) lets you bring Grammarly's real-time spelling and grammar assistance into your app at no cost.
- The Plus plan, an upgrade to the Lifetime Free plan, lets you bring advanced communication assistance features into your app with a flexible, usage-based pricing model.
Lifetime Free plan
You can stay on the Lifetime Free plan for as long as you want at no cost. However, not all intelligent communication assistance features are available on the Lifetime Free plan.
Here are some of the benefits you bring to your users on the Lifetime Free plan:
- Text analysis with the Grammarly Text Editor Plugin
- Unlimited grammar, spelling, and punctuation checks
For a complete list of features available on the Lifetime Free plan, see our plans pageopen in new window.
Plus plan
The paid Plus plan has everything in the Lifetime Free plan plus intelligent communication assistance features, such as:
- Advanced features:
- Advanced writing suggestions:
- Clarity-focused rewrites
- Engaging word choice
- Inclusive language
- SuggestionCategories
- Custom events/reporting about the user session and text:
For a complete list of features available on the Plus plan, see our plans pageopen in new window.
Pricing
On the Plus plan, you pay based on the number of words analyzed by Grammarly in your application. You'll start by purchasing a set number of words. Then, as users write in your app and Grammarly analyzes their text, this will use up words from your purchase.
The Manage Plan page shows the number of words used (that is, analyzed by Grammarly) and the number of words remaining from your last purchase.

If your plan runs out of words, your app will still have Grammarly's writing assistance, but your Plus features will be on pause. You can buy more words or use auto-refill to make a purchase automatically when you run out.
TIP
Our pricing is discounted so that you pay less per word if you purchase a larger number of words. However, words expire one year from the purchase date, so you shouldn't buy more words than your app can realistically use in one year.
